We consider our area churches that support the ministry of LifeLine our ministry partners. Churches support in a variety of ways. Some have us in their budget (missions) and give a set amount monthly or once a year. Others get involved by taking up special offerings during the year designated for LifeLine.
We appreciate the support of the churches however they wish to participate. It does help in a financial way but it does so much more than that! With a church being supportive in any way, it sends a message to us that they believe in what our ministry does on a daily basis. It says to us, “We are behind you and join with you in being a beacon of hope to those who are hurting, broken, confused, etc. by seeing them through the eyes of Christ.”
We have a liaison program for our local churches. Most pastors do not have the time to put us on their busy schedule and we completely understand that. If there is someone who has a desire to assist the ministry of LifeLine and cannot be available to actually come to the center to volunteer, this might be a way to be of great help to LifeLine within their local church. Basically, the liaison is a link between LifeLine and the church, to provide information and encourage church members to be involved in such events as the Walk for Life, Annual Banquet and Blessings in a Bottle Campaign during the year. We are also very interested in hearing from our liaisons about prayer requests and needs that the local churches might have.
If you are in a local church and would be interested in becoming a liaison for your church, contact us for more information. We have a liaison packet which gives a more detailed description of this vital role.
Sanctity of Life
In January, LifeLine supplies bulletin inserts, short DVD, and speakers for area churches for Sanctity of Human Life services. All this is no cost to the churches. This is our way of showing our appreciation to the churches for supporting the ministry of LifeLine and the concept of being Life affirming.
Some churches have had baby showers for LifeLine. This is usually done through the womens’ ministries. Our Baby Boutique is fully stocked with clothes (baby and maternity), diapers, wipes, bath supplies, bottles, formula and baby food, and other baby need items through donations. Most of our donated items are gently used but in good condition. If your church would like to provide a shower please contact us to make arrangements. We sometimes are invited to the church shower to tell the group a little about the ministry and express our appreciation.
Blessings in a Bottle
Several of our churches participate in this great and easy campaign. It is so easy because people just pick up a bottle from church, take it home and fill it with loose change, cash or even a check, and bring it back to church on the date assigned. The church either returns the bottles back to LifeLine and we take them to the SECU to be counted or the church counts the bottle money and sends LifeLine a check for the amount from the bottles. LifeLine will supply the bottles and get them to your church along with the Sanctity of Life materials in January. We are glad to get bottles to the churches at other times of the year as well if requested.
